VEIN Community in 2005
Dear VEIN Community Member,
VEIN Community has been reviewed and after considering a number of options, the Board of the Post Graduate Foundation in Veterinary Science has elected to transfer the management of VEIN Community from the University of Sydney Library to the Post Graduate Foundation in Veterinary Science. From 1st January 2005, VEIN Community services will by managed by, and located at, the Post Graduate Foundation in Veterinary Science.
There will be some changes to VEIN Community from 2005:
- Web services specifically for VEIN Community members will be transferred to the PGF website. The PGF will continue to provide links to a number of services, including to databases. The direct Web site address will change; members will be advised of the new address in the New Year. However, a link to the PGF VEIN Community webpages will be provided from the main VEIN website (http://vein.library.usyd.edu.au/).
- The VEIN website will still offer free access to Links pages and many other resources for the veterinary and animal science community worldwide, however it will be redeveloped to more closely meet curriculum requirements.
- Access to the subscription databases CAB Abstracts and MEDLINE will be continued, however an extra fee for VEIN Community membership will not be required. Access will be open to all Associate Members and above of the Post Graduate Foundation in Veterinary Science (who pay their $195 or above). Andrea Nolan will be the contact for any questions about access and passwords in 2005.
- Article and book delivery will no longer be available. The VEIN Community webpage on the PGF site will provide links to public libraries that make this service available and to commercial document delivery organisations.
- Research assistance and advice will no longer be available. The VEIN Community webpage on the PGF site will provide links to professional organisations who can perform literature searches on a fee basis.
The contact person for all VEIN Community related enquiries in 2005 will be:
