Published by the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, this introductory article by David L Sackett, William MC Rosenberg, JA Muir Gray, R Brian Haynes and W Scott Richardson, is based on an editorial from the British Medical Journal, 13th January 1996, 312: 71-2. The article provides a core definition of evidence-based medicine, information about "what evidence-based medicine isn't" and provides a list of references.

Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP)
From the Public Health Resource Unit of the NHS in the UK, this site provides resources such as questionnaires used in critical appraisal of evidence and information about statistical terms. The material has been designed primarily for use with human subjects but could be adapted for animal use. It includes information about randomised controlled trials, economic evaluations, qualitative research studies and systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials.
