2000 Report on the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia (.pdf format)
This report was published in March 2001 by the American Veterinary Medical Association. It includes information on euthanasia of animals in research and animal care and information on ectothermic, aquatic and fur-bearing animals. Information is also available on horses and wildlife. The report is written for members of the veterinary profession who carry out, or supervise, the euthanasia of animals.
Euthanasia
These guidelines have been developed by the University of Iowa Animal Care Unit. They cover approved euthanasia methods for rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, other rodents, cats and dogs. The guidelines follow those established by the American Veterinary Medical Association Panel on Euthanasia.
