Scientific name: Macrozamia spp.
burrawangs, zamia palms, wild pineapples


These seeds may be eaten by animals and are toxic. Human toxicity has also been reported if the seeds are not properly prepared. The first recorded case in Australia of human toxicity due to plants was in 1770, when Cook's crew ate the seeds when they were beached in the Endeavour River.
