Part of the Pigsite.com web site, this database provides access to the core material from the book Managing Pig Health and the Treatment of Disease, written by Mike Muirhead and Tom Alexander. The database can be browsed by chapter headings, which include: anatomy, physiology, understanding disease, treating disease, skin conditions, exotic diseases, welfare and health and safety. The database can also be searched by keyword. The database is freely available, however a brief registration is required to access the material.

A comprehensive listing of training materials, books, proceedings and website resources as well as an extensive bibliography relating to the care, welfare, and housing of pigs.
National Animal Health Monitoring System: Swine Studies "NAHMS swine studies provide information on health and health management practices on U.S. swine operations as well as information on animal health concerns identified by producers, industry allies, Federal and State agencies, and researchers". Topics covered include: biosecurity, pork quality assurance, feed management, mating practices, diseases, vaccination and antibiotic use. Includes results of Swine 2001, an extensive study of the US pork industry.
Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Pigs (2nd ed) Full text of Standing Committee of Agriculture and Resource Management (SCARM) Report No. 66 published by the CSIRO. "This Code of Practice is intended as a guide for all people responsible for the welfare of pigs under both intensive and extensive systems. It recognises that the basic requirement for the welfare of pigs is a husbandry system appropriate to their physiological and behavioural needs". The report is in .pdf format and a little slow to download.
Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals: Land Transport of Pigs Full text of Standing Committee of Agriculture and Resource Management (SCARM) Report No. 63 published by the CSIRO. "This Code of Practice is intended as a guide for people who are involved in transporting pigs. Anesthesia of pot bellied pigs

The virtual pig dissection. Published by Steve Michaud, this is a virtual dissection of a pig. It is illustrated with line diagrams, each with an accompanying brief discussion of the anatomical section pictured. Published by the Department of Animal Science, Oklahoma State University, this site is an alphabetical listing of pig breeds. Information about each breed featured on the site includes: a brief description of the breed, a short reference list and, in most cases, a photograph. Ark Database quot;The ARKdb database system provides comprehensive public repositories for genome mapping data from farmed and other animal species, providing a resource similar in function to that offered by GDB or MGD for human or mouse mapping data respectively. USDA Swine Genome Mapping Project
Publishes results of a project by US Department of Agriculture Meat Animal Research Center including linkage maps and marker tables. The site also allows the user to search the database for markers by name.

Nutrient Requirements of Swine: 10th Revised Edition (1998) Published in 1998 by the National Academy Press, this is a book produced by the US National Research Council Subcommittee on the Nutrient Requirements of Swine. The full-text of this book is freely available online, and can be browsed by chapter or searched by keyword. The 10th edition of this publication provides guidelines for those involved in the swine and feed industries to develop and implement nutritional and feeding programs for swine.
